Hi All The Niagara Bassmasters present the 2nd annual 30lb Challenge. Lake Erie is giving up its biggest fish right now and it is our best chance to break the 30lb mark.
Here are the tournament details;
Date: November 15, 2008 Time: 7:00 to 3:00 Launch: Millers Creek Marina (Formerly the Niagara Parks Marina) Entry Fee: $60.00 100% Payback Waters: Lake Erie & Upper Niagara River 5 Bass, Live release 1 rod per angler
This is an open tournament which means you don't have to be a member of B.A.S.S. to fish. The event will be launched from the Upper Niagara river, this gives the anglers a chance to fish the river or come off the lake early in case it gets rough. As I said this will be prime time to break the 30lb. mark. The winning team that breaks 30lbs. will receive specially made trophies. If you have any questions or need directions please send me an email at championproteam@yahoo.ca Hope to see you there!

Looks like the winds are going to work in our favour for tomorrow's event. These are the directions to the launch:
Take QEW to Fort Erie. Take Netherby Road exit Turn left on Netherby Road. Follow until you reach the stop sign at the Niagara Parkway. Here you can only go left or right as the Niagara River is directly in front of you. Turn right on the parkway and drive for almost 2 km’s. The Marina will be on your left (same side as river). There should be boats there already. The Marina is called Miller’s Creek Marina
See you in the morning

Thankfully the weatherman was again incorrect with his forecast for saturday and we had almost dead calm wind for 3/4's of the day, and the rain was minimal. Some teams found it to be a tough, but we were nowhere near the 30lb mark.
Here are the results:
1st Place Aaron Shirley & Tony B 24.85lbs 2nd Place Jason Bates & Rick Kewell 24.02lbs Big Fish 5.84lbs 3rd Place John Poirier & Gerald K 22.95lbs 4th Place John Stathakos & Gerard Ling 22.53lbs 5th Place Barry Pringle and Rich Nagy 22.30lbs 6th Place Scott Huffman & Rob MacIntosh 22.13lbs 7th Place Rob Cambell & Chad 21.52lbs 8th Place Pete Elphinstone & Julie Mercier 19.75lbs 9thPlace Mike Hauer & Eric Hauer 19.94lbs 10th Place John Prokator & Marnie Prokator 16.85lbs
Big congrats to Aaron and Tony, for not being tournament anglers they definitely know what they are doing out there. Also congrats to Jason and Rick on winning big fish. Thanks to everyone that came out, a few of our regulars were away (walleye fishing???) or we would have had a larger field.
Pictures will be posted
